The Road Commissioner oversees the maintenance of Town roads -- those that are neither private nor are the responsibility of the Maine Department of Transportation. The commissioner is elected to a one-year term each March. Current Road Commissioner Maurice Childs is not seeking re-election in the March 20 voting, ending his 29 years of public service in the post. Jason Stevens is the only candidate on the ballot. The Road Commissioner is assisted in his assessment of local roads by a Roads Committee, whose members are appointed by the Board of Selectpersons.
